5 Morning Stretches to Improve Flexibility

Flexibility is an essential component of overall fitness and well-being. Starting your day with a few simple stretches can help increase flexibility, improve circulation, and boost your energy levels. Here are five morning stretches to kickstart your day:

1. Neck Stretch

Start by sitting or standing tall. Gently tilt your head to one side, bringing your ear towards your shoulder until you feel a stretch along the opposite side of your neck. Hold for 15-30 seconds and then switch sides.

2. Shoulder Stretch

Interlace your fingers behind your back and straighten your arms. Lift your arms slightly and feel the stretch across your chest and shoulders. Hold for 20-30 seconds while taking deep breaths.

3. Forward Fold

Stand with your feet hip-width apart and slowly bend forward from your hips, reaching towards the floor. Allow your head, neck, and arms to hang heavy. Hold for 20-30 seconds to stretch your hamstrings and lower back.

4. Spinal Twist

Sit on the edge of your bed or a chair with your spine tall. Twist your torso to one side, placing your opposite hand on the outside of your thigh for a deeper stretch. Hold for 15-20 seconds and switch sides.

5. Hip Flexor Stretch

Kneel on one knee with the other foot flat on the floor in front of you. Lean forward slightly to feel a stretch in the front of your hip. Hold for 20 seconds and then switch sides.
